The inventory is random, but if you like digging for bargains, you're in the right place. I particularly recommend the shoes. I have found excellent brands at deep discounts. Good fabric deals, too!
Brewer Marden's is not my favorite location, it's selection isn't up there with Ellsworth and Waterville and the building layout doesn't really flow very well. But it's better than other places they have inhabited in the past, they could clean it up a little more sometimes. Marden's prices used to be much better overall, but I'm sure profit comes before good deals.
I understand they were busy due to 3 Canadian buses hitting them at once, and the ladies at the fabric table were dealing with 3 lines of people...but one of them was very rude to customers. A lady had asked if someone could get a panel down that was hanging from the ceiling when they got a chance. This lady just laughed and said to the customer, yeah right...and laughed again. Very rude.
Decent store. Kept clean but prepare to wait on slow and marginally friendly cashiers. Good deals , poor service
The variety is incredible, and the prices are unbelievable. I was able to find some really nice name brand items at, in one case, 1/8 the full price! Worth a visit before you go to the department store, Marden's has everything.
